eBook File Instructions

Kindle: How to transfer the .mobi file to your Kindle reader.

First method:
1. Connect your Kindle to your computer using the special USB cable provided by Amazon. The device will show up as an external disk drive.
2. Open the “documents” folder on your Kindle.
3. Browse to the folder on your computer where you downloaded the .mobi file.
4. Drag the .mobi file to the “documents” folder on your Kindle. (Or, copy and paste it there.)
5. It will immediately appear in your list of books on the device.

Alternate method:
1. Find the Kindle email address Amazon assigned to you when you bought your device. If you can’t readily find it, log into your amazon.com account and:
2. Click the “Manage Your Kindle” button in the far right column. This will take you to a page headed “Your Kindle Library.”
3. Click the “Manage Your Devices” link in the left-hand column under the heading “Your Kindle Account.”
4. Note down the Kindle E-mail address near the top of the resulting page. It will be something like you@kindle.com.
5. You really have two Kindle E-mail addresses. In the case of you@kindle.com, the alternate address is you@free.kindle.com. This is the one you want to use. The other one will charge you up to $2.95 for using Amazon’s network. The free one will use your own network if it’s available, switching to Amazon’s network only if necessary. So note it down too.
6. Attach the .mobi file to an email and send it to your free Kindle E-mail address.
7. It will appear in your list of books on the device.
